Translation: Dao Wordsmithing and Process
No matter which project, field, or industry, each project is approached with a passion for achieving the intended cross cultural exchange as we are language enthusiasts, not merely translators. At the Dao, we seek to forge target words from the anvil of the source language (wordsmithing) and maintain the original intention and style of the source text.
The Dao firmly believes that quality control must be ensured through each stage of the translation process as such we diligently seek input from all involved with the creative yet definitive process of wordsmithing and are constantly exchanging word lists for review and proofreading translated sections throughout the process so that corrections can be made and translators can make the necessary adjustments before the end of the project when it is often too late to control quality.
At the Dao of Words, we believe that the approach to translation determines the final product of the intended communication and therefore we work closely with our clients to understand their intended impact and goal from the very beginning and continuously seek their input on the project. We start by determining tone and style with the client and end users and then move onto entrusting the industry-specific project managers with compiling project-specific glossaries to ensure conformity throughout the translation. Once the project manager has thoroughly grasped the elements of the project we then move onto team training which includes review and discussion of key words and tone of language and then assignment of tasks to each professional translator. Good communication is the key to the success of any industry and therefore we maintain real time exchange of word choice and language flow throughout the project. With a network of high-octane in-house professionals on both sides of the Pacific, we actively seek insight and direction from technical and linguistic proofreaders, terminologists, end-users, clients, as well as subject specialists to compile up-to-the-minute information on policy, law, process and formalities to effectuate success of your desired communication and help sustain continued growth and development of your undertaking.
The completion of the initial translation is really just the beginning of our continued participation in finalizing our service. With our client’s feedback, we aim to facilitate all-related communications such as product inquiries, business negotiations, follow-up correspondences, etc. We then prepare a book of knowledge for project debriefing and document management purposes so that we are ready to respond whenever our client wants to revisit the project.
Each project excites and motivates us to reach new levels of success for our clients and ourselves in translating thoughts, not just words...
